ACA house: Passivhaus + Biohabitability

This house is located in the town of Ametlla de Vallès, a 15-minute drive from Granollers. It is a detached house that meets the Passivhaus criteria, achieving a high degree of interior comfort, paying special attention to the well-being and health of its owners through the design based on biohabitability and geobiology criteria.

We wanted to take advantage of the magnificent environment offered by the Vallès Oriental, being able to enjoy the natural views in the middle of trees and especially the sunrises and sunsets thanks to its orientation to the south. All its rooms on the ground floor offer an exit to the courtyard to be able to have direct contact with nature, always necessary for these comforting moments, where we find an family garden that reinforces the goal of achieving a self-sufficient home.

Architecture

With the help of HEM Green & Balanced Architecture, a specialist in projects based on biohabitability, this house has been designed with a total of 164 m2. The architects Marina Farró and Gemma Blanes, members of the COAC, have made the custom design of this passive house fulfilling and combining concepts such as being a healthy house, with efficiency and harmony, as well as the requirement of customers to have direct contact with the outside through the garden and the terraces to be able to enjoy the nature.

Garage: intended for this purpose, it consists of 26 m2 in which there is also space to be used as a storage room.
Ground floor: with 92 m2 in total, we find three areas. In the central area there is the living-dining room with the study, separated by the staircase leading to the first floor. At the ends, separated by sliding doors, we find the suite and the kitchen. The whole ground floor is designed to have direct contact with the garden and to enjoy the southern sun.
First floor: with a total of 46 m2, we find two bedrooms for children. A bathroom, together with a common area for games and study, make this floor a place to have a personal space. Like the ground floor, its orientation allows you to enjoy the sun and the views.

Geobiology, biohabitability

This project has been carried out taking into account the geobiology and biohabitability to obtain a healthy home. Combined with the intrinsic inner comfort of a passive house, it achieves a high level of well-being for its inhabitants, allowing them to recover all possible energy after the working day.

Interior design, Feng-shui

The interior of the house has been meticulously designed to provide a space that allows you to enjoy every moment. The concepts of Feng Shui, an Eastern philosophical system based on the conscious and harmonious occupation of space, with a positive impact on the people who inhabit it, have been applied in this interior design work.

Technical characteristics

The house follows the criteria of a passive house, which achieves an A+ energy certification. The electrical installation has been designed by HEM applying biohabitability criteria.

Enclosures: WERU front door and windows. Griesser Venetian blinds to ensure solar control.
Air conditioning: ventilation with Zehnder ComfoAir 180 equipment and air conditioning with 3 × 1 BAXI heat pump.
DHW: domestic hot water is obtained thanks to aerothermal equipment.
Biohabitability: Bioswitch installation by Gigahertz Solutions for night rest.
Construction system: All living space is built with the EvoWall construction system, except the garage.
Facade: Weber cladding, a specialist in exterior cladding, with a different color in the entrance area to stand out.

Finishes

In both interior and exterior finishes, biohabitability has also been taken into account, choosing the most suitable materials as well as their location. Solomat was in charge of the bathrooms and the flooring, while BGV, a specialist in kitchens and interiors, was in charge of the kitchen, the cladding of the entrance hall, the staircase and the interior doors.
